First of all, Jeff and Dan would like to thank all the parents and students for their support throughout this unprecedented and unique marching band season. We appreciate everyone’s efforts to keep all the students safe so we could provide our band students the opportunity to have a marching band season. Tonight marks the end of our home football schedule and our halftime performances, but the band will play on.
Marching Bands rely heavily on the students’ retained knowledge from season to season. This season we only had two full days of band camp where normally we would have taught the fundamentals of marching and performance to our first year marchers. Many of those fundamentals were tabled as we focused solely on instrumentation and music. During a normal band camp our seniors play a big role in sharing their performance knowledge by coaching the underclassman. We wish to take advantage of our senior class before they depart as we introduce these fundamentals to our younger marchers. The hope is that what is taught will be retained for next year in what will hopefully be a normal marching season in 2021.
On a side note, many of the students hate to see marching season end even under normal conditions. Since this season has been anything but normal we feel that continuing with band rehearsals fulfills a number of necessary and personal needs for the Titan Band members.
Moving forward we plan on having marching band rehearsals on Wednesday evenings beginning Wednesday, October 28th, at Groza Field – Roehm Athletic Complex, from 7-8:30PM. Please note that there will be NO rehearsals the week of October 19th. These practices will be weather permitting and closed to spectators.
Once again thank you for all of your support!
